Dylan Howard Takes Over as Celebuzz.com Editor-in-Chief

This is definitely one of the funnier ways we have found out about a major shift in the ranks of top-tier entertainment journalists.

A little earlier today, we posted an item about the new Chevy Chase audio released on celebuzz.com. We were a little confused, as the byline was that of Dylan Howard (pictured), for the past two and a half years the senior executive editor of Star Magazine and Radar Online. Thankfully, Howard has set us straight via email:

I joined BUZZMEDIA as editor-in-chief of Celebuzz just a few weeks ago. My appointment is part of an original content effort that is intended to make Celebuzz the leading celebrity news source.

Celebuzz Has More Chevy Chase Audio*

Star magazine and Radar Online reporter Dylan Howard* has dropped another Chevy Chase bombshell this morning. It’s a second audio recording of Community’s famous senior citizen, complaining via telephone to show creator Dan Harmon about the direction of several episodes.

From a media perspective, what’s most unusual about this one is that it can be found on a website not named TMZ. Celebuzz, part of the kinder, gentler BUZZMEDIA empire, normally does not get into this sort of territory:

National Entertainment Journalism Award Winners Announced

The LA Press Club held the ceremony to announce the winners of its National Entertainment Journalism awards last night. NBC-LA’s Tara Wallis-Finestone and Dylan Howard of RadarOnline were named  “co-entertainment journalists of the year.”

The Hollywood Reporter and the LA Times largely dominated the print categories. THR was named “Entertainment Publication” of the year, while The Times picked up first place awards in the news, feature and columnist categories.

LA Weekly‘s Steven Leigh Morris picked up the honor for print critic of the year.

National Entertainment Journalism Award Finalists Announced

The Los Angeles Press Club announced the finalists for its 2011 National Entertainment Journalism Awards today. Lots of familiar names. Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva, Bloomberg NewsRonald Grover, Radar’s Dylan Howard, KABC-TV’s George Pennacchio, NBC-4′s Tara Wallis-Finestone and Stephen Leigh Morris of the LA Weekly are all finalists for journalist of the year honors.

The awards will be held November 17 at the Biltmore Hotel–where none other than Hugh Hefner will be there to receive a lifetime achievement award.
