Our Favorite Day-Old Story: Sure, this ran yesterday, but the op-ed from City Council member and former police chief Bernard Parks, lambasting the LAT for what he says is the paper’s unrelenting habit of trying to make chief William Bratton “look good even in the worst of situations” reads like a sharp barb served over a bed of sour grapes. Beautiful stuff that simply shouldn’t be missed.

Going Once: Surprisingly, not all summer movies are sequels.

Pulitzer-prize-winning biz reporter Evelyn Iritani adds her sweet farewell to the mix this afternoon. One LAT staffer told FBLA reading e-mail today has been like attending a very long funeral.

Let me add my voice to those who are leaving this great place with mixed emotions. Day in and day out, often under the most difficult circumstances, you produce one of the country’s best newspapers.
