Kooky Howard Hughes Rumor Flickers Anew at Las Vegas Neon Museum

John M. Glionna has a fun look in the LA Times at Las Vegas’ newest attraction, the Neon Museum, which officially opened over the weekend. Located downtown, the non-profit offers guided tours Tuesdays through Saturdays for a minimum suggested donation of $15.00.

The Neon Museum will rank as must-see for many LA visitors the next time they hit the Strip. Among the attractions is this one as highlighted by Glionna:

Outside the museum sits the refurbished silver slipper that legend says once spooked Howard Hughes. The billionaire reportedly suspected the slipper that revolved outside the Silver Slipper casino was being used as a government surveillance ploy because it often paused momentarily, pointing at his Desert Inn penthouse. (Some say Hughes just didn’t like the sign’s light shining in his window, but he eventually bought the casino and slipper, which he had filled with concrete.)

Zsa Zsa’s Daughter Waits for ‘Dreaded Call from AP Obit Reporter’

If not for the Schwarzenegger love child scandal, the plight of Constance Francesca Hilton, a woman who–according to her mother Zsa Zsa Gabor‘s autobiography was the result of “rape” by Conrad Hilton–would be getting a much larger share of media attention this week.

Former LA Times staff writer Lorenza Muñoz lays out the current sad state of affairs for mother and Gabor’s only daughter via a Daily Beast article chock full of interesting media and publicist tidbits. Front and center is the cozy relationship between Gabor’s ninth husband, Frederic von Anhalt (pictured), and TMZ:

Through his spokesman John Blanchette, von Anhalt, denies that he has a paid relationship with the tabloid TMZ. However, he is friendly with TMZ founder Harvey Levin and did agree to opening up the couple’s Bel Air mansion for public viewing on the new TMZ tour of celebrity homes, said Blanchette.

Even though Blood Moon Productions mastermind Darwin Porter lives in a Victorian home on Staten Island with a menagerie of once-abandoned pets, his focus remains squarely on Hollywood.

Earlier this year, Porter uncorked a series of wild accusations in his book Hollywood Babylon Strikes Again! (co-authored with Danforth Prince), including the charge that Walt Disney regularly hired male prostitutes. Now, alongside his many celebrity biography endeavors, the former Miami Herald bureau chief for Key West has started a new weekly gossip sheet called Dirty Laundry, which promises to share “all the gossip unfit to print.”
