Thanks to Sean Astin, son of Patty Duke and star of such films as Lord of the Rings and The Goonies, California Congressional primary candidate Dan Adler has taken to YouTube with some go-for-the-gusto, four-letter word 30-second spots. Adler, a former Walt Disney Imagineering vp, has his kids and even Duke herself swearing that he is a man who “gets sh*t done:”

This morning I received a call from Congresswoman Jane Harman letting me know that she will be stepping down from her seat in Congress to serve as President and CEO at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. The Congresswoman has been a strong voice for improving our nation’s security and has worked hard for the people of the 36th District.

We are the biggest state by population – therefore we have the most members of congress in the House. But, ahem, we don’t have half. And over half had already gone home yesterday missing the last vote of the year – health care for 9/11 responders. Who are some of the cool kids who cut class? Here’s the complete list. But four congresswomen from LA were already home: Maxine Waters, Jane Harman, Loretta Sanchez and Linda Sanchez. Tsk tsk tsk.

After years of trying to get Congress to hear the case for terrestrial radio paying royalties to artists and labels for songs they broadcast, it looks like it will happen this week.

Much to the chagrin of National Association of Broadcasters who according to Billboard, ‘has long opposed paying such royalties under the claim that radio play serves as promotion that drives music sales’.
