Entertainment Weekly Aims for SiriusXM ‘Bullseye’

Are you ready for Entertainment Weekly Radio? It’s coming this spring and will include a variety of cross-over programming:

The daily morning radio show hosted by assistant managing editor Dalton Ross will include a forum for listeners to dish during recaps of last night’s TV shows as they drive to work; a weekly show hosted by editor Jess Cagle will showcase entertainment news; additional programs will include What’s Hot Today, The Must List and a radio version of the “Bullseye” column.

There’s no mention in today’s announcement of Geoff Boucher, the LAT Hero Complex creator who moved over to EW last year. But something tells us he too will soon be branching out to the magazine’s SiriuxXM airwaves.

Geoff Boucher Lands at Entertainment Weekly

Score one for TheWrap media-film reporter Alexander C. Kaufman. On Wednesday, he tipped that Hero Complex honcho Geoff Boucher would be joining Entertainment Weekly. Today, that news has been officially confirmed.

From this morning’s announcement:

Based in LA, Boucher will be joining EW’s Movies team on October 1st as a senior writer and will add his singular voice to EW’s print and digital platforms.

EXCLUSIVE: Jess Cagle on the Launch of ‘The EW Interview’

It was somewhat unfortunate that all those media misinterpretations of comments made by Brad Pitt to Parade magazine about Jennifer Aniston hit the wire just a day before a September 16 announcement that the actor was the inaugural cover-story beneficiary of a new Entertainment Weekly feature called “The EW Interview.” However, FishbowlLA is pretty sure that in the long run, it is the latter conversation that will stand the test of time.

We got in touch with EW managing editor Jess Cagle via email to find out more about this intriguing new series. Although no one is yet set for a second installment, he says he hopes to share another before the year is out.

“A lot of celebrity profiles focus on a current project with a few personal details wedged in,” Cagle explains. “The EW Interview is really an in-depth discussion with a respected entertainer about his or her work–by a reporter who really knows their stuff. Along the way you get tremendous insight into the subject’s personality and life.”

Entertainment Weekly Hires New LA Bureau Chief

Jon Barrett has just been hired as Entertainment Weekly‘s new LA bureau chief, managing editor Jess Cagle announced to staff today. Barrett comes over to EW from The Advocate, where he had been editor-in-chief for the past three years. Back in 2009, he also collaborated with Matthew Shepard‘s mother Judy on the book The Meaning of Matthew.

Barrett officially starts his new gig April 4.
