KTLA reporter Lu Parker and LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa have called it quits.

“I can confirm that Lu Parker ended her three-year committed relationship with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as of May 25,” Juliette Harris, Parker and KTLA’s publicist, told the LA Times.

In a city not exactly known for its hardcore coverage of civic affairs, Parker and Villaraigosa’s relationship was an anomaly. It probably got more press than the LA County Board of Supervisors. Couldn’t have helped things being under that kind of microscope. Then again, the Mayor probably could have expected the scrutiny based on the similar coverage he got for his previous relationship with Telemundo 52′s Mirthala Salinas.

In our dreams, perhaps one day FishbowlLA could grow into a much larger multimedia concern called FishBowl Worldwide Media. The only problem with this scenario: there is already such an enterprise and today they’re making YouTube news.

The “next generation studio” founded by America’s Funniest Home Videos creator Vin Di Bona and Bruce Gersh is wading back into familiar AFV territory with Petsami, a new YouTube channel showcasing the hijinks of felines, canines and more. From today’s press release:

It’s just weird. You’d think the randy mayor of the Entertainment Capital of the World would date actresses. But no he’s into members of the press.

LAT is reporting that recently separated Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is dating former Miss USA, Lu Parker currently on KTLA Channel 5.

Not that there’s anything wrong with loving your local anchors…but your print journalists could feel slighted. You know, and actually report stuff about your tepid tenure.

But our favorite bit from Phil Willon‘s piece in LAT comes at the end where Sue Otto, owner of Chevalier’s Books talks about when the pair come into her store:

When the pair [Parker and Villaraigosa] walked in, authors Elizabeth Ford and Daniela Drake were signing copies of their new book, “Smart Girls Marry Money: How Women Have Been Duped Into the Romantic Dream — and How They’re Paying For It.” The two authors invited the mayor and Parker over, Otto said.

“They gave her a copy,” Otto said.

Hilarious.
