Vincent Price Movie Festival – The Bing Theater at LACMA will screen six films featuring the King Of Horror, including The Pit and the Pendulum, The Masque of Red Death, and The Fly each featuring the King Of Horror himself. KCRW to Air Marc Maron’s WTF

No idea how they’re going to pull this off, but KCRW has decided to air 10 episodes of Marc Maron‘s wonderful podcast WTF–which, if for some reason you can’t figure it out, stands for “What the Fuck.” And therein, seemingly, lies the trouble. Maron begins each and every show by saying fuck no less than 12 times, and isn’t shy about using it during his interviews either. Why should he be shy? It’s his podcast.

But the FCC might have something to say about the matter if anything close to an unedited podcast goes over the airwaves. Especially on Sundays at 11AM, which is when KCRW plans to run the program.

The shows KCRW chose to air are all old, so they’ll have plenty of time to scrub them clean. It will be interesting to see what’s left.

Margaret Cho Claims Bristol Did DWTS To Please Mother Palin

When Bristol Palin signed on for Dancing With the Stars, there was plenty of speculation that she was going to embarrass her mother all over again. But according to her DWTS co-star Margaret Cho, it was Sarah Palin who insisted Bristol slap on her dancing shoes. Cho writes on her website that:

…the only reason Bristol was on the show was because Sarah Palin forced her to do it. Sarah supposedly blames Bristol harshly and openly (in the circles that I heard it from) for not winning the election, and so she told Bristol she “owed” it to her to do DWTS so that “America would fall in love with her again” and make it possible for Sarah Palin to run in 2012 with America behind her all the way. Instead of being supposedly “handicapped” by the presence of her teen mom daughter, now Bristol is going to be an “asset” – a celebrity beloved for her dancing. I am sure the show wasn’t in on this (but who knows anything really).

Cho goes on to say that she genuinely liked Bristol, despite their political differences, and to compliment her performance on the show. She also notes that, having spilled the beans on the Palin family, “I am scared I am going to wake up with a decapitated moose head in my bed.”

Provenza, director of the film about comics’ dirty little secret inside joke The Aristocrats joins photographer and co-author Dan Dion and interviews nearly 100 “comedians, contrarians, raconteurs and vulgarians.” The likes of Drew Carey, George Carlin, Vernon Chatman, Cheech & Chong, Margaret Cho, Stephen Colbert, Billy Connolly and Troy Conrad and everyone else in between. The finalists for the Best Celebrity Blogger for the Web Blog Awards are Kat Dennings, John Mayer, Britney Spears, Alyssa Milano, Kanye West, Brea Grant, Margaret Cho, Mark Cuban, Gilbert Areanas and Wil Wheaton.

And according to our sources – Wil Wheaton (pictured above with GalleyCat editor Ron Hogan at BEA last year) is winning with a pretty major margin over second place holder Britney Spears. The whole thing is horribly unfair…to Britney. Wheaton writes for LA Weekly and is a published author. And Britney likes cheese.

Oscar Improvements Suggested

In today’s LA Times, Patrick Goldstein, that brick-throwing radical, suggests that the Oscar producers are too old, too stuck in variety shows and that recruiting some fresh ideas from ESPN or FOX Sports might save the broadcast “event”.

We think forget sports, and look at reality shows.

Why not have the Best Song nominees warbled by the Best Actor nominees, ala American Idol?

Screenwriters can try their luck at acting out their scripts.

Editors should recut each other’s movies into very short YouTube films.

And new hosts? Why not Sarah Silverman and Margaret Cho with Gary Busey working the red carpet? Other than the whole good taste issue.

Cinematical’s Chris Campbell has some intriguing ideas as well, but his readers are livid:

these have to be some of the most stupid suggestions i have ever heard… and i am soooooo trying to take them as the joke i pray for them to be.

Whatever. The Movie Blog has some suggestions below, but boy, do they need an editor–this is slow.

The Advocate celebrated 40 years with an splashy cover and a much splashier party last night at Republic.

Ann Cooper, Kimberly Pierce, T Cooper, and Felicia Limas posed for the camera.

Perez Hilton might think about dyeing the chin rug to match the drapes.

We looked around for Rex Lee, but no luck. And conspicuous by her absence was Margaret Cho–is she no longer gay-friendly?

Arts editor Corey Scholibo was easy to spot in an easily-spotted white suit. God we miss disco. Ashley Jones didn’t get our reference.

Jane Lynch told us about her VH1 pilot, her dogs, and her new film with Eric McCormick.

Greg Hernandez chatted with Marcellos Reynolds about evil Dick winning Big Brother. Or maybe an evil dick? Not sure.

Writer Deborah Behrens discussed the changes at Whole Life Times and we agreed that Abigail Lewis is sorely missed.

Katherine Heigl, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, editor Anne Stockwell and TR Knight were all suitable festive. Knight was like Prom King all night.

And TMZ got suckered by a Lance Ito lookalike.
