MTV News Article Fails to Deliver the Entourage Movie Goods

Following Mike Fleming‘s Tuesday night Deadline scoop about Warner Bros. giving the green light for an Entourage movie, other media outlets are playing catch-up. One of the more tantalizing headlines of this nature crossed the wire tonight:

Unfortunately, the MTV.com Q&A with Wahlberg that sits under this banner fails to live up to the tease. When reporter Josh Horowitz asked the show’s inspiration via telephone where the plot will take the beloved HBO series characters, he got this reply:

Wahlberg: You know what, I don’t know if I can give anything away. I haven’t really spoken to anybody about that particular thing. I think I can certainly get back to you about that.

MTV: OK, no worries.

What Will Ted Have to Say at the Oscars About Argo?

Given Argo‘s big weekend wins at the Producers Guild and Screen Actors Guild celebrations, the lack of a Best Director Oscar nomination for Ben Affleck looms even larger.

Still, it could be tricky for show host Seth MacFarlane to slam the director’s branch of the Academy. Those voters will be scattered throughout the Dolby Theatre audience and it would also be unfair to have a camera trained on Affleck and-or Argo producer George Clooney as MacFarlane ridicules their peers for picking a German and a New Orleans indie filmmaker instead. But the foul-mouthed teddy bear also voiced by MacFarlane? That’s a different story.

As recently tipped on an episode of Anderson, Mark Wahlberg and his fellow (furry) king of the R-rated domestic comedy box office rolls will be making an appearance on the telecast. Under that guise, MacFarlane can and probably will let loose on the business of the Best Director category snubs and more.

Where to Find Dirk’s Diggler

Perhaps this is common knowledge in Hollywood, but it was still news to FishbowlLA.

During an Australian interview for his latest movie Contraband, actor Mark Wahlberg got a great final throwaway question from 7.30 current affairs show co-host Chris Uhlmann. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reporter posed, “Look, I have to ask this question – what happened to the prosthesis we saw at the end of Boogie Nights?”, to which the actor replied:

“It’s one of the only props that I’ve ever kept from a movie, and I still have it in my house, locked in my safe.”

Time for Another Fatuous Eva Mendes Pick-Up

We’re not blaming Eva Mendes. After all, the only thing she does is give the initial interview.

But due most likely to some sternly memoed SEO considerations, just about anything Mendes says is re-purposed ad infinitum by foreign outlets, in a fashion that exceeds the usual boundaries of hat tip entertainment journalism.

Not long ago, it was all about Mendes’ view via HollywoodLife.com that married life was “boring” and “unnecessary.” Today, everyone from The Daily Telegraph in Australia to MonstersandCritics.com in London has begun sending out bulletins about the actress’ daily diet. Bread and pasta are involved, per a piece in the September issue of UK’s Zest magazine.

Jamie Oliver Cooks Up Worst Baby Name of 2010

One of the best ways for a consumer website to manufacture publicity, especially in the dying days of a calendar year, is to release the results of an online poll. Especially if there’s a celebrity angle involved.

Case in point: the sharing today by San Francisco-based BabyCenter.com of the “Best and Worst Celebrity Baby Names of 2010.” A total of 2,000 respondents chimed in, choosing the Boston Catholic christening of Mark Wahlberg‘s daughter Grace Margaret as their favorite famous newborn tagging of the year.

Paramount’s The Fighter Rings Oscar Buzz Bell

Typically, a potential Oscar awards season entry like the Mark Wahlberg-Christian Bale boxing drama The Fighter is launched in Toronto in September, not Hollywood in November. So kudos must first go to AFI Fest for securing the David O. Russell directed entry as a November 9th “surprise” screening.

Following yesterday’s unveiling, Oscar watchers are off and running with an early scorecard that encompasses a couple of unanimous decisions and various wins on points. Here’s a quick sampling of the December 10th release’s Mann’s minted buzz:

Rush Limbaugh Notices Ari Emanuel; He Must Need An Agent

rushlimbaugh.jpgArch conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh tried to take his anti-Obama campaign to a new level when he figured out on the air this morning (on KFI 640) that new White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel was in fact the brother to Endeavor agent Ari Emanuel.

“The Clintons had the Thomason’s,” Limbaugh bombasted about former President Bill Clinton’s links to Harry and Linda Bloodworth Thomason. “Now the Obamas have access to anyone they want.”

Apart from discussing how “nice, really great guy” Ari was (does he know what he’s saying?) and how Ari invited, nay begged Rush to come out to Hollywood to go to the Oscars, Limbaugh dropped the subject quickly and moved on.

Luckily, Limbaugh wasn’t aware that Ari is the model for Ari Gold on “Entourage,” which no doubt would have led to a Limbaugh diatribe against the show’s producers (Mark Wahlberg, among others) for not inviting him to be a guest star.

How do they say it? That’s Hollywood.

Mos Def Now Wanted In Vegas — And It’s Not For Gambling

One of FBLA’s favorite actors stands accused in Las Vegas of attacking a paparazzi last August, according to blackvoices.com.mosdef2.jpg

Mos Def, who gave stellar turns in films like “The Italian Job” with Mark Wahlberg, “Something the Lord Made” opposite Alan Rickman and “16 Blocks” with Bruce Willis, went ballistic on a fashion photogapher at Vegas’s annual Men’s Apparel and Garment Industry Convention. It was unclear what provoked him.

Allegedly, Mos snatched photographer Volker Corell’s camera from around his neck before smashing it to the ground and taking off with the busted equipment. And apparently the photographer was left with a cut on his left hand following the incident.

A warrant was issued Mos Def’s arrest in Las Vegas.

He faces faces charges of felony robbery and malicious destruction of private property.

DHD: Endeavor Signs ‘Vince’

vince-assri.jpgDeadline Hollywood Daily reports that Endeavor just signed Adrien Grenier, aka “Vince” from Entourage — the show executive produced by Mark Wahlberg that features an agent, Ari Gold, more than loosely based on Wahlberg’s own agent Ari Emanuel.

With life imitating art so much, does this mean that soon Grenier’s career will be over too?
