In the heyday of scripted network television, before the medium was trampled by the reality genre, Michael Green represented stars like Roseanne Barr and Martin Lawrence. With YouTube quickly taking over the realm of connecting up-and-coming talent with a mass audience, Green has a modified shingle – The Collective – and a new mandate.

As such, he is front and center in a USA Today look at the growing ranks of talent agencies focused on feeding the Internet universe’s 500,000-plus broadcast channels. Green is working with some of the video site’s leading click-getters:

Dane Boedigheimer steps into his Los Angeles garage most days to churn out YouTube videos for his Annoying Orange series, about a high-pitched citrus that cracks bad jokes. This summer, the series makes its debut on cable TV’s Cartoon Network, part of a deal Green put together.

Writer Counts Down Rancid James Lipton Interviews

Over at Nerve.com, contributor Rod Bastanmehr has come up with a fun way to tease the 18th season of Bravo’s Inside the Actors Studio, which debuts later this month. He counts down what he believes to be the five worst episodes in the show’s history.

There’s no doubt that over the years, host James Lipton has anchored countless hours of insightful conversation and provided the inspiration for one of Will Ferrell‘s most enduring SNL recurring bits. But every once in a while, as Bastanmehr so accurately points out, the program goes off the Method rails, usually because the featured guest in no way fits the Stanlislavski bill.

To find out who Bastanmehr thinks was the worst of all time, you’ll have to click through to the article. The only questionable selection on this chronicler’s list, as several comments also note, is Lipton’s 2004 conversation with Charlize Theron. The Oscar winning actress really does not belong alongside the likes of Tim Allen and Martin Lawrence.

Based in the Inland Empire, Chaffey Community Republican Women, Federated president Diane Fedele sent out her October newsletter with a surprise: A picture of Presidential candidate Barack Obama as a black caricature that would make Aunt Jamima blush. A picture so cliche and racist it would make Martin Lawrence look original. Horrible. Embarrassing. Southern California? Yikes.

So, SoCal’s are seen as dumb asses around the world. They think we’re all Hollywood douche bags that care more about elective surgery than elections. Some of that maybe deserved but Diane Fedele‘s phone interview with PE reporter Michelle DeArmond does us no favors:

“I didn’t see it the way that it’s being taken. I never connected,” she said. “It was just food to me. It didn’t mean anything else.”

She said she also wasn’t trying to make a statement linking Obama and food stamps, although her introductory text to the illustration connects the two: “Obama talks about all those presidents that got their names on bills. If elected, what bill would he be on????? Food Stamps, what else!”

Tap. Tap. Tap. Is this thing on? Dumb ass.

Washington Independent put it best with their headline “Et Tu, California?” noting the Sac Bee debacle yesterday.
