Conservative Blogger Decries Jimmy Fallon’s Foul Use of Fishbone

Is playing Fishbone’s “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” as Jimmy Fallon guest Michele Bachmann walks out worse than NASCAR fans in South Florida booing Michelle Obama? BigHollywood.com’s John Nolte thinks so.

In the wake of yesterday’s Late Night telecast, Nolte is banging the Breitbart drum about the sneaky sampling of a beloved LA band. He’s not sure if Fallon was aware beforehand of The Roots’ lyric-less song selection, but thinks it’s despicable:

It’s now acceptable to attempt to humiliate and denigrate Republican women, even with the use of the word “bitch,” don’t hold your breath for those outraged by the NASCAR incident to say a word about this. This is also a political move on NBC’s part, a way to undermine a candidate by turning them into a joke. They might as well have put a “kick me” sign on her back.

South African Newspaper Editor Berates LA Times Blogger Andrew Malcolm

In the wake of last week’s item by Andrew Malcolm about First Lady Michelle Obama allegedly being snubbed by the President of South Africa during a visit there, Mail & Guardian website editor Chris Roper (pictured) did a little digging. What he unearthed does not reflect well on Malcolm.

Roper notes that Malcolm sourced a June 21 report in the Telegraph by Aislinn Laing, who basically made something out of absolutely nothing. He also takes issue with the “Top of the Ticket” lede:

The peevishness of the opening paragraph said it all. “Well, who wants to meet the President of South Africa anyway?” It’s breathtaking in its childishness, and insulting.

Her latest subject is New York designer Maria Cornejo, whose work is regularly sourced by First Lady Michelle Obama. Cornejo’s firm, Zero + Maria Cornejo, recently expanded to L.A. with a store on Melrose Avenue.

A prominent part of Binkley’s weekly fashion musings is the way she deftly personalizes her article ledes. In this instance, she is writing from a mother-to-mother POV. Binkley has two children and her profile of Cornejo begins with a look at how the designer is intent on balancing the demands of fashion and family.

First Lady Michelle Obama and her two daughters came to visit and left town yesterday. Pinks and a Lakers game. Apparently our local paparazzi are farmed out covering the latest panty-less pre/post-rehab disaster starlet and didn’t follow the wife of the leader of the free world. Instead they had just regular people on Twitter broadcasting their every move.

Which leads us to wonder, just WHO is Big Brother these days?

The Obama Staff Ball…Like Prom With Booze…Free Booze

Okay, first off – we saw our new stalker Christopher Hayes of The Nation at this ball too! We should never put up our schedule on the Internet. You never know who will randomly show up where you’re going to be.

Anyway, this was the Obama Staff Ball – the final official event put on by the Presidential Inauguration Committee. Arcade Fire and Jay-Z preformed. The actor Kal Penn, who everyone in the crowd knew as ‘Kumar’ took the stage. He was a surrogate for the campaign so he spent his time on stage outing by name all the staffers who ‘tried to kill him’ by texting while driving through snowbanks.

Vice-President Joe Biden and his wife Jill made an appearance and then President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama took the stage. The new president said something to the effect of,”You guys are great.” To which someone next to us said,”Hire me!” Hm. Seems to be a theme developing. Free beer dude.
