Meg Whitman is down in the polls. Yes, she’s spent $140 million of her own money to get her name out there. Her name is out there. So is all her cash. Neither has impressed Californians. So in Whitman’s new ad she tells us that she knows how we see her as “a billionaire with no government experience.” The thing is – the YouTube comments are disabled. How can she claim she knows how we see her?

Whitman has poured $8.2 million into campaign literature and mailings, including two editions of a glossy policy magazine mailed to hundreds of thousands of households.

She’s also spent $11.7 million on consultants, including top adviser Mike Murphy, who earns $90,000 a month, close aide Henry Gomez at $36,000 a month and campaign manager Jillian Hasner at $30,000 a month.

Mike Murphy is making $90,000 a month and they can’t hire an intern to scrub the YouTube comments? What are they on a budget? This is the most expensive single campaign for governor in the history of the world and they can’t let random YouTubers leave comments because monitoring could take away from the Whitman wallpapering of 2010? What’s wrong with these people?

You have to admire someone that will so gleefully defend Sarah Palin. Mike Murphy called her fresh — an ‘anti-politician’. She’s running for something that she…isn’t. Great point.

Opps. Conservative pundits Mike Murphy and Peggy Noonan had their mikes on while they said what they actually think about VP nominee Sarah Palin. This clip takes place right after the two talked about strategy. Murphy remarked that Palin is “fresh, anti-politician.”

Then when they thought they were off the air:

“It’s over.” “Is that the most qualified woman they could have turned to?” “They went for the political bullshit about narratives.”

We’re cringing.
