In a city not exactly known for its hardcore coverage of civic affairs, Parker and Villaraigosa’s relationship was an anomaly. It probably got more press than the LA County Board of Supervisors. Couldn’t have helped things being under that kind of microscope. Then again, the Mayor probably could have expected the scrutiny based on the similar coverage he got for his previous relationship with Telemundo 52′s Mirthala Salinas.

OK, so here we are in Greater L.A., with its long, dark history of land and water grabs, legendary air pollution, assassins, serial killers and gang kingpins, and according to last week’s Talk Back to Lopez poll, the worst Angeleno of all time is:
L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa?
Does anyone out there know any history?
In fairness, he’s an impotent incumbent who’s only accomplishment is getting Mirthala Salinas transferred to Riverside. OJ is in jail, which makes him not an incumbent. The number two on the list was Rep. Henry Waxman, so that should tell you something. People who vote in online polls hate the home team.
Previously on FBLA:
Mirthala Salinas and her intended, Yanni Raz, have a wedding planning site, complete with boudoir photography. Mayor Tony missed the love train to Tackyville just in time.
As the site says:
Yanni Raz Really didn’t know that his basically locking him self in “SALINAS PRISON”
Left: a weasel, waiting to rip someone’s flesh.
Shawn Hubler, has a cover story on the sadder-but-wiser Mirthala Salinas in Los Angeles magazine. Salinas regrets the affair with the Mayor, which happened due to the stress of her mother’s death, and is now engaged to mortgage broker Yanni Raz, who’s a change from her usual brand of politically connected beaus.
Mirthala might be a charmer, but boy, is she a dull interview:
“What can I say?” Mirthala Salinas asks, smiling. “I’m a romantic.”
Hubler is observant, and just a tiny bit acid:
She wears pale lip gloss and a little mascara, which will run later when she cries.
To be honest, Cory Kennedy, whom Hubler profiled a while back, sounds like a lot more fun.

October 1 came and went yesterday and so did Mirthala Salinas‘ job at Telemundo.
The television newscaster, whose highly publicized affair with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa led to a two month suspension from Telemundo’s KVEA TV, failed to report back to work on Monday.
Her absence then led the network to release a statement that she would not be returning…ever. Salinas was due to report to her new gig in the Inland Empire which was a reassignment from her previous post in LA – something she was apparently unhappy about, reports the LA Times.
Of course, Salinas herself could not be reached for comment and the Mayor’s office handed down a big “no comment.”

Inland Empire: Spanish-language television network Telemundo apparently doesn’t have the cojones to fire Mirthala Salinas. So instead it will force her to quit. The one-time anchor, who was suspended without pay for two months in August for reporting on Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa while having an affair with him, will return to the station. As a reporter. In Riverside. This all but guarantees she’ll say adios to the station before her contract expires in December.
Harvey Keitel Is A Small Fish: This has to be news to the acclaimed actor. But according to Living Vicariously columnist William Lobdell, who spent the day as a paparazzo, if Keitel were a fish, “I’d have to throw him back.” Next week, Lobdell will spend the day as an aged actor whose life work is reduced to a bad analogy and until he’s tossed aside like a skinny minnow.
Cuomo “Pokes” Facebook: New York Atty. Gen. Andrew Cuomo is investigating Facebook’s safety claims. He’s just mad, because nobody has written on his wall.
Mirthala Salinas has been suspended by Telemundo, accordin to a really late-breaking story. She gets to sit in the big time out chair for two whole months, because Telemundo are a bunch of wimps. But she’s not going alone:
The highest-ranking executive, Ibra Morales, who oversees the network’s 16 Spanish-language stations, was reprimanded in the unfolding scandal that Telemundo President Don Browne said flagrantly violated Telemundo’s journalistic standards
KVEA General Manager Manuel Abud was reassigned to another position, and News Director Al Corral was suspended for two months without pay.
ERSNews.com mocks the LAT for its handling of the affair between Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Telemundo reporter Mirthala Salinas, taunting the paper of record for continuing to “to bring up the rear in reporting on this story.”
The fellas at ERS are making a name for themselves with this story, and they know it:
Comic-Con Coverage: Is relegated to a weird, catch-all blog that features poorly produced video segments of — from what we can tell — nothing.
Silence Is Golden: Nondisclosure agreements aren’t just for nannies anymore. The LAT reports that in our gossipy age, celebs — and many non-celebs — are requiring everyone from plumber and gardeners to delivery people to promise to keep their mouths shut.
Things Just Got Interestinger: While Telemundo considers the fate of Mirthala Salinas, the reporter who had an affair with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Telemundo’s corporate parent, NBC Universal will be leaning on the mayor to help pass a massive $3-billion development plan. A little tat for, um, tit?
