More On Anderson’s Resignation: At least one former Register associate was dispatched to cover the resignation of N. Christian Anderson from OCR. The story makes it sound as though there isn’t a whole lot of love lost: “This month, the Register cut about three dozen newsroom jobs. One reporter said staff members saw some justice in Anderson’s departure because it ‘wasn’t just the workers who produce the paper every day who were forced to sacrifice.”

Orange County Register publisher N. Christian Anderson III, who was recently named E&P’s Editor of the Year, is an editor no more.

Anderson tells E&P that he has decided to “step aside” to allow Freedom Communications, OCR’s parent company, to become one big, happy newspaper division. But newsroom sources say the 27-year vet was pushed out. More as the story develops.

Marti Buscaglia, who was to assume the role of publisher of the Orange County Register, is going to have to stay in Duluth. The Reg got wind that the publisher of the Duluth News Tribune fudged her educational qualifications on her application.

“Credibility is a hallmark of Freedom and our products,” N. Christian Anderson, current publisher and president and chief executive of Freedom Orange County Information, said on the paper’s Web site. “We agreed that this breach would make it impossible for her to fulfill her responsibilities.”

Buscaglia was supposed to take the reigns from Anderson, who will helm a company-wide effort to move the Register from a print product to a primarily Web-based news source.
