Yeah, right. That’s the reaction not just here at FishbowlLA but also via some of the reader comments for an updated LA Times blog item about Vivid Entertainment being allowed to stream its shiny, happy porn product through Google TV set-top boxes.

After Nathan Olivarez-Giles published his initial report, he heard from a Google TV spokesperson:

“We will respect the parental controls of devices connected to Google TV. So if you have controls set up through your set-top box or through a V-Chip, those controls will continue to work for TV content shown through Google TV. Users will also be able to implement Safe Search on the Google TV browser (Chrome), and the Safe Search setting will extend to Internet content shown in Google TV search results. In addition, users will have the ability to lock out access to the browser on Google TV through a 4-digit PIN code for access control.]

If you go solely by Ron Gorodetzky‘s IMDb page, the UC San Diego grad does not impress. All that’s listed is a credit as “robot consultant” for 2005 video sequel American Pie Presents Band Camp.

However, once you read today’s LA Times profile piece by Nathan Olivarez-Giles, a very different picture emerges. Turns out the American Pie gig was just a detour made possible by his sister and brother-in-law. On the Internet day job side, Gorodetzky has triumphed at Digg, Revision3, Fflick and now Google+ as part of a team of engineers seeking to integrate YouTube into the company’s social media app:

“We’re playing with some ideas–what sort of useful information can you extract from YouTube comments and how can we make things more social,” he said. “Who are people who are like you and who are your friends and how can we make the experience more social… If your friends are sharing a video or your friends like a video, you may like it too. That’s sort of a premise that seems to hold true. So we’re finding a way to bring that video to you.”

LAT’s Nathan Olivarez-Giles writes:

AOL’s purchase of the Huffington Post closed Monday, and the same day, AOL’s stock sank to its lowest price ever.

As noted by Business Insider’s Chart of the Day, shares of AOL fell about 4%, or 79 cents, to $19.26 — its lowest closing price so far. That was down about one-third from the one-year high it reached in April, Business Insider noted.

This could be an indicator that the purchase of Huffpo by AOL was overpriced or the investors are not thrilled with Chief Executive Tim Armstrong. And it could also be a combination. Although, it is only the first day…and an all time low.
