Arnold Schwarzenegger Allegedly Mulling Nazi-With-a-Heart-of-Gold Role

OK, our German is a tad remedial, to say the least. But from what we can make out from this Arnold Schwarzenegger interview with Austrian website Krone.at, the former Governator is allegedly mulling a role as a Nazi in a new flick.

Here’s the translation of part of the interview, as reported by the Slashfilm:

Currently I’m reading three scripts. One topic/script, which I considered a long time ago before governor, is delighting me particularly. In it I would play an older soldier, who gets the order at the ending of the war to kill a bunch of kids. But he doesn’t do it and get them to safety at the risk of his life and it has all kind of adventure. This script is based on a true story!

The script Arnold is allegedly referring to is “Braveheart” screenwriter Randall Wallace‘s “With Wings as Eagles.” It’s the story of a Nazi officer who refuses to execute a captured American pilot and his crew–as well as a few thousand other POWs. A bold choice of rolls to say the least. We’re sure the story is heartwarming, but can you imagine going from California governor to Nazi? Just imagine the campaign ads if Arnold ever runs for Senate!

Ayn Rand’s Hollywood Pals: Does Greenspan Know?

Jan-Feb Large.jpg

Harriet Rubin has a NYT a story about those Ayn Rand fanciers in big business which is interesting, but not all that surprising–Del Jones wrote much the same story in 2002 for USAToday. But as Alan Greenspan’s bio is coming out on Monday, why not get another story out of Rand?

Tthe movie version of Atlas Shrugged is moving forward, with Vadim Perelman as writer/director. Angelina Jolie has been attached, but told Cinematical in June:

the thing with Atlas is just, we all feel that it’s one of those projects where if you can’t do it right, you really can’t touch it.

Other show-biz Atlas aficionados include

Sandra Bullock

Brandon Routh

Vince Vaughn

Brad Pitt and more.
