Nice little exclusive from EW senior writer Anthony Breznican heading into the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. He got word from the makers of Lovelace that after a lot of casting drama involving Sarah Jessica Parker for the role of Gloria Steinhem, it all wound up on the cutting room floor:

Parker was a last-minute addition to the film, which features Amanda Seyfried in the life story of the woman who starred in the 1972 X-rated movie Deep Throat. The Sex and the City actress was an emergency fill-in for Demi Moore, who dropped out of the movie in the middle of production after she suffered unspecified health problems and was hospitalized…

With the film now just days away from its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman have told EW that it turned out they didn’t need the character after all. Parker, who played the role of feminist icon Gloria Steinem, has joined a long list of actors left on the cutting room floor.

Although recently departed Good Day LA co-host Dorothy Lucey is a “self-professed political junkie,” it’s safe to say Al Gore’s Current TV was very low on the over-under list of places she would wind up next.

In what FishbowlLA applauds as a brilliant example of mixing it up, Lucey will co-host tonight’s edition of The Young Turks with Cenk Uygur. We’ll be sure to update this item later with a link or embed of the video.

What to expect? A TYT rep tells us:

“The big news of the day is Obama’s deportation policy change. They’re going to break down the genius of his political move and Dorothy will join in on the discussion. They’re also doing a segment about the “Checks and the City” controversy – last night Sarah Jessica Parker hosted a big fundraiser at her home in NYC and the Republicans went nuts about it. Dorothy will speak to Hollywood’s involvement in the presidential campaign race. Also, they will be discussing drone attacks, and Rolling Stone contributor Michael Hastings will be on for that part.”

On Friday, after six years spent under the LATimes.com umbrella, awards season expert Tom O’Neil (pictured) bid farewell to TheEnvelope.com. It’s time, he enthused, to take his groundbreaking website Goldderby.com back onto the wide open expanse of the Web and run it independently.

FishbowlLA chatted with O’Neil via email to get a better sense of the operation. His executive editor, Paul Sheehan, is a former entertainment lawyer who returned to the Gold Derby fold in 2010 after freelancing for major newspapers and magazines. Together, they watch over a hand-picked team of senior editors.

“I recruited my editors from the smartest posters at the Gold Derby message boards over the past 11 years,” O’Neil explains. “By following the discussions there, I could see who really knew their stuff and who didn’t. I believe it’s much easier to take award experts and turn then into journalists than it is to take cocky, know-it-all journalists and turn them into award experts.”

“I don’t believe that 99.9% of Hollywood writers really know anything about awards,” he adds. “This year no one at the Hollywood Reporter, TheWrap, Deadline, the New York Times, TV Guide or Entertainment Weekly bothered to scrutinze what episodes were submitted by nominees to Emmy judges, but those episodes decide who wins and loses. However, my editors at GoldDerby can not only tell you what episodes the nominees entered this year, they can tell you what was submitted ten and 20 years ago and why those contenders won or lost.”

FBLA has learned that Ina Treciokas, one of the top PR women in New York or L.A., has divorced herself from Kelly Bush‘s firm (another top PR femme) and started her own independent company.

Details were available on Nikki Finke‘s Deadline Hollywood Column (click continued). Treciokas, who repped stars like Sarah Jessica Parker, Mike Myers, Katie Holmes and Owen Wilson, has been in the biz for some 13 years and apparently wants her own shop.
