You can never have too much funny on the Internet, right?

Well, comedian Sarah Silverman, actor Michael Cera, the sketch duo of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim and rap-comic Reggie Watts are the masterminds behind a new YouTube channel named JASH.

OK, so the actual name of the channel isn’t that funny, which stands for “Just Attitude So Hey.” But the content should be funnier if you’re into experimental comedy.

“We each have pages within Jash, and we each can curate those pages,” Silverman told The Hollywood Reporter at SXSW on Sunday. “This is what we think is funny. It may not be your cup of tea, but there’s no testing involved, there’s no second-guessing of what a 14-year-old boy would like. It’s just a place to do stuff and fail or not fail.”

Producers Daniel Kellison (Jimmy Kimmel Live!), Doug DeLuca (The Man Show) and Mickey Meyer (Epic Rap Battles of History) are also involved in the project.

Matt Damon Finally Turns the Tables on Jimmy Kimmel

For several years, it’s been the greatest running gag on late night talk TV: Jimmy Kimmel ending a show with the disclaimer, “Apologies to Matt Damon; we ran out of time.” Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the double-punchline to that bit was finally delivered by Damon. In spades.

With a duct-taped Jimmy in the background, Damon at one point during his commando-host appearance gleefully revealed that Kimmel is a bitter, jealous soul who has auditioned for every one of the actor’s film roles:

Judd Apatow’s Week Off to a Heck of a Start

Last night, Judd Apatow blew the lid off the artifice of the Hollywood Film Awards, cracking wise after an in-kind intro from friend and collaborator Seth Rogen. He was at the Beverly Hilton to accept the Hollywood Comedy Award.

Today, it was announced that Apatow will guest edit Vanity Fair’s first-ever Comedy Issue (January 2013). Makes you wonder what the writer-director has planned for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Via Twitter, Apatow revealed he was in the middle today of that very VF task with Sarah Silverman. From the vanityfair.com announcement:

“I proposed the idea of editing a comedy issue. I didn’t think Graydon Carter would say yes, and then I didn’t think it would be that much work. And then I found out I don’t get paid,” said Apatow. “I’m a gigantic fan of Vanity Fair and having the opportunity to collaborate on an issue that focuses on comedy has been fantastic.”

Jimmy Kimmel Proposes to His Girlfriend

Congrats go out to Jimmy Kimmel, who proposed to his girlfriend Molly McNearney, co-head writer of his ABC late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Kimmel popped the question during their vacation at Kruger National Park in South Africa.

The two have been dating since 2009. It will mark the second marriage for Kimmel, who was married for 13 years and has two children with his ex-wife.

Plus, there was that whole Sarah Silverman relationship that lasted off and on for nearly seven years. This will be McNearney’s first marriage.

Increasing Number of Celebs Relying on Twitter Client WhoSay

The fingerprints of Creative Artists Agency (CAA) are all over WhoSay, a third-party app that is quietly becoming the go-to social media intermediary for A-list celebrities like Tom Hanks, Ellen DeGeneres, and Sarah Silverman. In large part because the LA startup pays users for transmitted photos, video, and other content.

The application was incubated at CAA and has since received $6 million in seed funding from a group of investors that includes Amazon and High Peak Ventures. For a piece on AllThingsDigital.com, Silicon Valley based business reporter Liz Gannes spoke this week with WhoSay CEO Steve Ellis. Even though WhoSay has only a few hundred users, the combined Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Myspace reach of its membership exceeds half a billion followers and friends:

“This will never be a consumer application,” Ellis said, though he added that he can’t exactly specify the criteria for admitting WhoSay users…

DumbDumb Duo Scoring with Smart Viral Ads

For all those brands suffering from “arrested ad development,” actors Will Arnett and Jason Bateman (pictured) are ready to help. The DumbDumb.com duo recently received a “Startup of the Year Award” from Forbes magazine and are now getting the AdWeek cover story treatment courtesy of reporter John Ortved.

One of the benefits of interviewing comedians for a story is that it can lead to some memorable quotes. A few paragraphs down page one, Arnett offers this take on why digital ads are aiming for the funny bone: “Unless you’re making the ASPCA commercial with the sad puppies and the Sarah McLachlan music, it’s very difficult to get people to consume through dramatic advertising.” DumbDumb clients include Wrigley’s, Old Navy, Blackberry, and Denny’s:

YouGov’s BrandIndex reported that Denny’s had an impression-score spike from 6.2 to 25.4 in that demo after DumbDumb’s “Always Open” Web series for the chain began in March. (Overseen by Denny’s agency, Gotham, it features comedian David Koechner interviewing funny types, like Sarah Silverman, at a Denny’s in Hollywood.)

WTF Host Marc Maron Gets the Attention of the New York Times

Comedian Marc Maron–a former Air America host who these days is best known for his podcast WTF, which he tapes out of his garage in Highland Park–just got himself a nice long profile in the New York Times.

A taste:

Mr. Maron, a stand-up comic by trade, has cast himself as an unlikely celebrity interviewer — one who is angry, probing, neurotic and a vulnerable recovering addict. And somehow he’s able to elicit from his guests, mostly other comedians like Sarah Silverman and Ben Stiller, the same level of vulnerability.

The interviews, usually taped in his garage in Los Angeles, often end up feeling more like therapy sessions. Take, for example, Robin Williams talking to Mr. Maron about the dark side of dealing with audiences: “I guess it’s that fear that they’ll recognize — as you know — how insecure are we really? News has broke that pioneering funny man Jerry Seinfeld will be the spokesperson for Microsoft.

Top-notch ad guy Alex Bogusky is the brains behind the operation. The man responsible for making MINI Coopers cool when gas was still $2 a gallon. And perhaps the sole reason guys 18-22 think they have discerning taste by choosing Burger King.

Our insider says the whole campaign is focused on ‘everyday’ people using Windows in real situations. Some of the options the agency has been floating around have been a reporter on Humvee, an Obama/McCain speech writer, a DJ – a blues musician. There was a crew that traveled all over the world filming humanitarian workers.

Not to be out done by ‘real people’ there are tons of celebrities that the campaign may also feature. At the moment the names that have been put into the mix are Sarah Silverman, Willie Nelson, motorcycle rider Travis Pastrana, Matthew McConaughey and Ralph Nadar. Also in what seems like a direct answer to the Mac campaign – Rob Corddry and Stephen Colbert may also do a spot.

Most notable of the names is that of the late great Bernie Mac (insert lame pun ‘burning Mac’ here).

Yeah, it’s bigger than Seinfeld. It’s a $300 million campaign to convince people that the world’s largest software maker is also the coolest. As refugees of the Cola Wars in the 1980′s we think they could take that $300 million and just make Vista not meltdown every couple months. You know, ‘what’s the deal with my operating system needing a major downgrade to be functional?’

In today’s LA Times, Patrick Goldstein, that brick-throwing radical, suggests that the Oscar producers are too old, too stuck in variety shows and that recruiting some fresh ideas from ESPN or FOX Sports might save the broadcast “event”.

We think forget sports, and look at reality shows.

Why not have the Best Song nominees warbled by the Best Actor nominees, ala American Idol?

Screenwriters can try their luck at acting out their scripts.

Editors should recut each other’s movies into very short YouTube films.

And new hosts? Why not Sarah Silverman and Margaret Cho with Gary Busey working the red carpet? Other than the whole good taste issue.

Cinematical’s Chris Campbell has some intriguing ideas as well, but his readers are livid:

these have to be some of the most stupid suggestions i have ever heard… and i am soooooo trying to take them as the joke i pray for them to be.
