Terri Nelson Joins Freedom Communications

dfasdfsde.jpgTerri Nelson, the former VP of finance for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, is moving south (we guess) to becoming VP of Finance for Freedom Newspapers, which owns the Orange County Register.

Freedom Newspapers, a division of Freedom Communications, announced today that it has named Terri Nelson as Vice President of Finance, Newspapers. She joins Freedom on Apr. 14, reporting to Jonathan Segal, president, Freedom Newspapers.

“Terri joins Freedom with a wealth of accounting and operational experience,” said Segal. “She will be responsible for the Division’s financial planning and analysis related to new business ventures, product launches, subscriber initiatives, partnerships, acquisitions, and capital investments.”

Nelson brings more than 20 years of finance expertise to Freedom. Most recently, she served as Vice President of Finance for Los Angeles Newspaper Group (LANG) in Los Angeles, Calif., where she was responsible for developing strategic plans to achieve operational goals as well as producing financial analysis and budgeting for nine daily newspapers and four weekly papers. During her 17-year tenure with LANG, Nelson served in a variety of roles, including both Executive Finance Director and Controller and Financial Analysis and Accounting Manager. Prior to her term with LANG, she served as a Financial Analyst for Abex Aerospace and as a Senior Accountant for Phillips Financial Group.

Nelson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Economics from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Calif. where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
