The AP Throws a Party in LA, FBLA Not Invited
The Associated Press feted special correspondent Linda Deutsch on her 40 years with the gruel-and-grind outfit. We’d love tell you about all the war stories Deutsch shared — and all the gentle ribbing dignitaries made about her various idiosyncrasies. But we can’t. We weren’t invited.
LA Observed, who also was not invited, supplies details from a spy:
District Attorney Steve Cooley brought a resolution praising Deutsch and was joined at the party by Simpson trial judge Lance Ito. Among the hundred or so guests … were appellate justice Nora Manella, federal judge Robert Takasugi, Loyola law professor Laurie Levenson and litigators Tom Mesereau and Harland Braun.
A video of Deutsch through the years made liberal references to Elvis Presley, her idol. It was no coincidence, apparently, that today was his birthday.
