The Daily Beast Hires New Technology Columnist

David Kirkpatrick has signed on to The Daily Beast as the site’s new technology columnist. Kirkpatrick is a former Fortune magazine reporter and the author of the book “The Facebook Effect: The Inside Story of the Company That is Connecting the World.”

“David has a long, extraordinary record as a reporter, author and convenor of the best minds in technology,” says Daily Beast executive editor Edward Felsenthal. “We are thrilled to have him at The Daily Beast.”

Fittingly, Kirkpatrick reviewed the “Social Network” for the site last week and called it a “compelling movie that maintains a taut sense of drama from its opening moments to the final scene.” That said, given his extensive coverage of Facebook, he was also labeled the film “a pastiche–an amalgam of fact and fiction, based upon the partly made-up book Accidental Billionaires, by Ben Mezrich.”
