Tom Hoffarth Ranks His Best and Worst TV Anchors
It’s that time of the year when local sports personalities cringe as Daily News columnist Tom Hoffarth rolls out his annual “Best and Worst of the L.A. Sports Media.”
First up, the Top 10 anchors/reporters:
1. Curt Sandoval, KABC Channel 7 reporter/anchor
2. Jim Hill, KCBS Channel 2/KCAL Channel 9 anchor/reporter
3. Fred Roggin, KNBC Channel 4 anchor
4. Patrick O’Neal, FSW/Prime Ticket reporter/host
5. John Ireland, KCAL Channel 9/KCBS Channel 2 reporter/anchor
6. Gary Miller, KCAL Channel 9 anchor/reporter/ studio host
7. Eric Karros, KCAL Dodgers analyst
8. Chris McGee, FSW/Prime Ticket reporter
9. Mark Rogondino, FoxSportsWest.com Prep Zone
10. Jamie Maggio, KCAL Channel 9 anchor/reporter
And the dubious bottom five:
1. Liz Habib, KTTV Channel 11 reporter
2. Rebecca Hall, KTLA Channel 5 reporter
3. Steve Hartman, KTLA Channel 5 anchor/reporter
4. Michael Eaves, FSW/Prime Ticket reporter/host
5. Mario Solis, KNBC Channel 4 anchor
At first glance, it’s hard to argue with the Top 5 (though I would have moved up O’Neal higher), but there’s no way Eaves should be in the bottom five. He’s one of the hardest working anchors on Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket. Whether I agree with him or not, I look forward every year to Hoffarth’s rankings.
