WGA Award Nominees Announced, Sans Tree of Life

The Writer’s Guild of America announced the nominees for its annual awards for original screenplay, adapted screenplay and documentary screenplay. Some big names were left out this year–most notably Terrence Malick‘s Tree of Life. Bridesmaids was one of the films to pick up a nod in its stead.

As Gold Derby notes, other big names left off the list, like The Artist, may seem like glaring omissions, but in reality the films were ineligible under WGA guidelines.

The winners will be announced on February 19, 2012, during simultaneous award ceremonies in Hollywood and New York.
