Kimmel says he checked in with several of the event’s previous hosts including Seth Myers and Stephen Colbert. Everyone has told him that the key to success is getting the President to laugh. As goes the POTUS, so goes the crowd.
Saturday’s C-SPAN live broadcast gig is a return engagement of sorts for Kimmel. He worked the same DC Hilton ballroom in 2009 for a National Italian American Foundation function. For this assignment, the comedian jokes he was told that he “can pillage but may not rape.”
