It’s that time of year again when professional movie reviewers butt heads with a mind-numbing Adam Sandler comedy.
TheWrap’s Alonso Duralde sums up That’s My Boy as “two laughs, sprinkled over a giant bowl of revulsion.” But what really caught FishbowlLA’s attention is this critic’s suggestion that a final-act narrative turn “ranks among the most desperate and tasteless comedic plot twists in Hollywood history.”
Really? Wow, we might have to morbidly check out the June 18 Columbia Pictures release just to see what Duralde is retching about. Although no doubt the cat will soon be out the garbage bag via Twitter and Facebook.
In fairness, part of the artistic outrage should land at the feet of David Caspe. The creator of ABC’s
short-lived series Happy Endings is making his feature-writing debut here thanks to prolifically puerile Happy Madison Productions.
