BuzzFeed VP Breaks Down the Last 48 Hours

MattTrottaPicCleveland Plain Dealer reporter Janet Cho has a good summary of a recent luncheon presentation given at the American Advertising Federation’s local chapter by BuzzFeed VP for the east coast Matt Trotta (pictured).

Trotta’s first two points are a reminder of just how critical the Smartphone has become. He told the audience that “mobile is the future” and “mobile is the Web.” He then moved on to some fascinating specifics:

“In the past 48 hours, 65 million people have visited BuzzFeed,” Trotta said, including 4.3 million views of the current No. 1 post, “77 Facts That Sound Like Huge Lies But Are Actually Completely True.” More than three-fourths of those views are coming from social media shares, with nearly four million coming from Facebook, because it’s not the kind of thing people pass around on Twitter.

The “77 Lies” piece was compiled by BuzzFeed senior editor Dave Stopera. A couple of FishbowlNY favorites:

22. France was still executing people with a guillotine when the first Star Wars film came out.

69. Every two minutes, we take more pictures than all of humanity in the 19th century.
