The best way to deal with hecklers is to ignore them. Anthony Weiner did not do that today. During a campaign stop in Brooklyn, Weiner got into it with a Jewish man who did his best to start a fight (3:45 mark). As Weiner is leaving a deli, the man can be heard saying “You’re a real scumbag, Anthony. You’re married to an Arab.” Nice guy.
Weiner then reacted to the insults by engaging in a yelling match with the man. Weiner replied “Takes one to know one, jackass,” and it went on from there. “You’re my judge?” asked an obviously angry Weiner. “What rabbi taught you that? You know who judges me? Go visit with your rabbi. You are not my God.”
The man kept needling Weiner calling his behavior “deviant” and claiming that Weiner shouldn’t show his face in public. It all ended when Weiner finally walked off, telling the man to “take care.”
Obviously the best course of action here would’ve been to just ignore the man and walk away. But it’s hard to blame Weiner for yelling at this guy, given the words that started it.
