Kevin Shinkle joined the Associated Press as assistant business editor in 2008, at the height of the financial crisis. He was later promoted to deputy business editor and now, with Hal Ritter moving over to AP’s weekend news desk, he has been promoted once more to business editor. He will oversee the wire service’s worldwide business/finance coverage.
From today’s announcement:
“We are thrilled to have Kevin build on the great success he’s had over the past several years in guiding AP’s coverage of the business world through the most tumultuous of times,” said Lou Ferrara, the AP managing editor overseeing business, sports and entertainment coverage.
A native of Tucson, AZ, Shinkle graduated with honors from Hillsdale College in Michigan with majors in political theory and history.
Prior to joining AP in November 2008, Shinkle was business editor at the Star-Ledger in Newark and previously a reporter for Bloomberg News and The Tampa Tribune.
