How Janice Min Overcame LA’s Limited Journalist Talent Pool

Don’t go looking for Hollywood Reporter editorial director Janice Min on Twitter. Although an account has been created for her @janicebmin, she tells contributor Aria Hughes that she doesn’t use the service and has no idea even what her password is.

If Min was an active tweeter, she would likely have already bemoaned the small number of good journalists floating around LA. In our latest “So What Do You Do…?” interview, she reveals that it was her media-centric former home of Manhattan that ultimately came to the rescue:

“We increased staff at the Reporter by 35-45 percent, but hiring out here is hard. There is not a bench out here at all. You struggle to find enough working journalists out here to staff your publication and to even interview. We’ve been very lucky. We’ve had a lot of people from New York move out, but we’ve also found the most talented journalists in L.A.”

There’s much more to glean about Min and THR in this AvantGuild members-area article. To learn more about mediabistro’s premium service, click here.
