Editor & Publisher launched its Tenth Annual News Photos of the Year contest today. FishbowlDC has the details about the contest, which runs until September 14:

"Newspaper print photos, online news photos, and video/multimedia published since September 13, 2008 are eligible for award consideration. One grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and appear on the November 2009 cover of E&P. Twenty-four additional winners in six categories will be honored, along with a top prize in the new 'Unpublished' and 'Web-only' categories. E&P will also recognize deserving photos with honorable mentions."
