The James Beard Awards, also known as the "Oscars of the food world" were announced yesterday. The two big winners, with two awards each, were New York Magazine and Gourmet. As WWD notes, in "true magabrand/multiplatform fashion" the magazines' won for both long-form journalism (Manny Howard's article on Brooklyn farming in New York, Junot Diaz on Dominican food in Manhattan for Gourmet), as well as, online and television contributions (the Grub Street blog at nymag.com and Gourmet's "Diary of a Foodie" on PBS).
