It’s a heck of a day for Karine Vanasse. The Drummondville, Quebec native and former co-star of ABC-TV series Pan Am is on the cover of this week’s issue of Backstage magazine and crowns the publication’s first-ever “Backstage 30,” a list of up-and-coming performers with major industry traction.
“We got recommendations from a dozen casting directors and industry people,” Backstage executive editor Daniel Holloway tells FishbowlLA. “We factored that information together with performer social media footprints.”
The second actor on the list, Marc André Grondin, is also a Quebec native. La Belle Province, with its niche TV market activity and burgeoning English language feature film production scene, is evidently proving to be a very fertile launch pad for new talent.
Vanasse is already well on her way, with William Morris Endeavor talent agency representation and a publicist at ID PR. The list of “Top 30″ performers includes a quartet of SoCal natives: 7. Sam Lerner (LA), 8. Wendy McColm (Long Beach), 21. Sara Andreas (LA) and 22. Lauren Blumenfeld (LA). Congrats to all honorees.
