‘Baquet’ The New York Times?

Hideous pun, we know. But today, E&P reignites previous murmurings that NYT executive editor Bill Keller is wooing ousted LAT editor Dean Baquet — formerly national editor of The New York Times — back to the Gray Lady.

While Keller denied offering Baquet a position back when the LAT carried the story in mid-December, he tells Editor & Publisher today that during a lunch the pair had within two weeks of Baquet’s firing, “I made it clear I would love to see him back at The [New York] Times.”
