Barbara Roessner Named Exec Editor of Hearst Connecticut Newspapers

Hearst Newspapers has named Barbara Roessner executive editor of Hearst Connecticut Newspapers. Roessner will oversee papers such as the Connecticut PostThe News-TimesThe Advocate and Greenwich Time, along with seven other weeklies in Fairfield County.

Roessner was most recently a communications consultant for places such as Harvard University and the Aspen Institute. Previously, she was managing editor of the Hartford Courant from 2006 to 2009.

Additionally, David McCumber has been named Washington bureau chief. McCumber has been editor of The Advocate and Greenwich Time and editorial director of the Connecticut group since 2009.

Both appointments are effective August 1.
