Bicycling Mag Announces New Hires

Major changes have been happening at Bicycling recently: not only is the title expanding its content now that its sister magazine Mountain Bike has folded, but today it has announced several new hires and promotions in anticipation for a redesign slated for spring 2011.

The magazine has tapped Leah Flickinger, an avid cyclist and former deputy editor of Women’s Health, as its new executive editor and Andrew Bernstein, The Saratogian‘s former sports editor, as its new gear editor. Michael Yozell will continue as a mechanic for Bicycling, drawing on over three decades of experience.

Lou Mazzante has been promoted to the position of articles editor and Christine Mattheis has been promoted to online editor. Mazzante will lead print and online mountain biking content (the result of folding some of Mountain Bike‘s content into Bicycling) in addition to providing broader editorial support to Bicycling.com. He previously served as the editor of Bike magazine. Mattheis will continue working on Bicycling.com, overseeing various elements of its content, including Bicycling’s in-depth Tour de France coverage.
