Bob Schieffer’s Band To Make NYC Debut

If you’ve been wondering what Bob Schieffer has been doing in his free time since he relinquished the CBS Evening News anchor desk to Katie Couric, well, mystery solved. The tireless newsman has embarked on a second career as a member of Honky Tonk Confidential.

The band will play its first New York City gig at Hill Country, a Texas barbeque joint on West 26th Street next Wednesday, June 27 at 8:00PM in support of its latest release, Road Kill Stew. (Schieffer and co. squared off against Tony Snow‘s rock n’ rollers, Beats Workin’ in a battle of the bands earlier this year.)

Besides being the lead vocalist on “TV Anchorman” (which he also wrote), Schieffer penned three other songs on the 13-track debut CD: “Hard Choices,” “Little Lulu and Sister Hot Stuff” (“after my grand daughter,” he says) and “Long Shot Love.”
