Boldly going: Auf Wiedersehn, our Campbell
Sad news from the world of boldfaced names and Wilmer Valderrama-love: New York Times “Boldface Names” columnist Campbell Robertson will be leaving his post in the new year, leaving it up for grabs as he sallies forth to cover the education beat. No replacement has yet been named, and the official date of departure has not been set, so we can still look forward to a few more dispatches from the red carpet (Carmen Electra, a Maria Von Trapp of our time! Goofy puns requiring a knowledge of art history! Fun with Spanish!). And, of course, all sorts of showtune references to gladden a fishy heart. Wilmer Valderrama, that means you.
This is the second high-profile defection from the world of gossip reportage, following Hudson Morgan‘s taking leave of Lloyd Grove’s “Lowdown” for Men’s Vogue (though Campbell will be staying within the NYT fold). We will miss your sense of humor, Campbell, but we look forward to all the zany fun you’ll no doubt bring to the education beat! You’ve taught us so much already.
