Hot 97 Summer Jam 2012 Lineup Announced

Emmis may be down to one station in New York, but it’s still full steam ahead! Plans are finalized for Hot 97′s annual Summer Jam. The hip hop concert is recognized as one the genre’s must attend showcases of the year.

The all-star lineup has been announced for the June 3rd event at Metlife Stadium.

The main stage will feature Queens native Nicki Minaj, Young Jeezy, and Rick Ross & Maybach Music. Additional artists added to the one-day party are J. Cole, Wale, and Meek Mill.

Big Sean, Trey Songz, and Waka Flocka are set to join the show as well.

With another powerful list of stars, Hot 97 anticipates 55,000 strong turning out for Summer Jam.

Tickets are on sale at ticketmaster outlets or at ticketmaster.com.

Hot 97/WQHT gave birth to Summer Jam in 1994, first in smaller arenas, before settling for larger stadiums in 2003. It has become the longest running, and largest hip hop concert in the world.

Hot 97′s Summer Jam 2012 Set for June 3

The biggest names in the Hip-Hop world once again converge on MetLife Stadium. Hot 97/WQHT’s annual Summer Jam is set for Sunday, June 3rd.

The concert traditionally unites more than 50,000 fans to start the summer season. And this season is no exception.

As this crowd of music enthusiasts prepares for a rhythmic afternoon, the promoters of this event have yet to announce the lineup of recording artists, let alone the last-minute surprises. Hot 97 also offers the best up-and-coming acts on the pre-show festival village stage, Pusha T, Kendrick Lamar, School Boy Q and Big KRIT.

Members of the “Hot 97 Click” can purchase exclusive pre-sale tickets from today at noon until Friday at 10 p.m. Access to the special pre-sale offer is available for free by signing up for the “HOT 97 Click”.  Tickets for the general public go on sale Saturday, April 14 at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets and www.Ticketmaster.com.

Paying Tribute to Mothers: KISS FM Style

It’s the best way KISS FM/WRKS can honor moms on their big day–with a concert.

The Emmis-owned Urban station features Valerie Simpson, headlining a Mother’s Day concert to remember May 19. Simpson is the surviving half of famed singer/songwriting pairing with her husband Nick Ashford. It will be Simpson’s first time hitting the stage since his death last August.

The concert, at Broadway’s Beacon Theater, will be a chance for Simpson to pay tribute to her legendary partner and their equally legendary music.

Countdown to Hot 97′s Summer Jam is Underway

Despite this being one of the quietest winters on record, Hot 97/WQHT is ripping the months off the calendar. The station yesterday officially began the countdown to the Hot 97 Summer Jam 2012, 97 days before the concert!

Summer Jam, which takes place on June 3 at MetLife Stadium, is a day-long Hip Hop and R&B event.

More than 55,000 fans will witness one of Hip Hop’s biggest days of the year.

The 2011 edition of Summer Jam offered music’s hottest artists hitting the stage including Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Lloyd Banks, Drake, Fabolous, and Wiz Khalifa, and a numerous surprise performers.  Hot 97 anticipates brings bring another A-list line up together again this year.

Z100′s Jingle Ball Returns to Ring in Holiday Season

It’s not the Christmas season until Z100 has its annual Jingle Ball. The station has, once again, lined up some of the top artists to perform at Madison Square Garden on December 9.

Z100 held the Kick Off Party Friday at Aéropostale Times Square, as Z100 afternoon jock JJ announced the official star studded line-up.

The roster includes Lady Gaga, Pitbull, LMFAO, Kelly Clarkson, David Guetta, Foster the People, Gym Class Heroes, and Demi Lovato.

The pop sensation Lovato was on hand for a special performance to usher in the Jingle Ball “season.”

“The countdown is on to Z100’s Jingle Ball ’11,” Darren Pfeffer, Jingle Ball executive producer, tells FishbowlNY. “We have assembled another historic line-up, with a few surprises in between.”

While waiting for the surprises, special guest hosts signed on for the gala concert include Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian Odom, Lamar Odom, and Karmin.

Tickets are sold exclusively to Z100 VIP members at Ticketmaster starting November 1.

Mayor Bloomberg has issued a proclamation declaring December 9 Z100′s Jingle Ball Day.

WRXP Bringing TakLiberty Rock Festival to New Jersey

Alternative Rocker WRXP has unveiled its first rock festival–TakLiberty (pronounced Take Liberty) Festival.

The multi-stage rock show takes place on Sunday, September 18 at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey.  

From the two stages, fans will see Coldplay, Richard Ashcroft, Two Door Cinema Club, The Kooks, Graffiti 6, and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart perform. Those artists just scratch the surface, though, with many others to be included.

Jennifer Hudson Electrifies Crowd Live at Letterman

Academy Award and Grammy Award winning singer Jennifer Hudson put on a “by invitation only” performance Monday night.

It was the latest in the CBS Interactive Music Group’s Live on Letterman webcast series.

Looking and sounding amazing, from the first note, Hudson had the crowd on its feet, and kept them standing until the end of her 50-minute concert.

Hudson was at the Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan to promote her new CD, I Remember Me.

She started the show, entering the stage by way of the back of the audience, singing It’s a New Day, which was popularized in her recent Weight Watchers ads.

Hot 97 Has Another Successful Summer Jam

The 2011 edition of Hot 97′s Summer Jam was another sell out. More than 50,000 fans watched the biggest and brightest in hip-hop and R&B at the New Meadowlands Stadium last Sunday.

Among the headliners: Lil Wayne, Drake (shown performing together), Chris Brown, and Fabolous.

Rising stars, including Ricky Blaze, Big Sean, and Yelawolf, sang at the pre-show Hot 97 Festival Village stage.

And yes, what would Summer Jam be without the special guests? Diddy, Busta Rhymes, and Jadakiss were just a few of the many surprise artists.

Hot 97′s Summer Jam Starts Petition to Declare New Meadowlands Stadium District 97

As we’ve been reporting, next month Hip Hop fans will converge on the New Meadowlands Stadium for Hot 97′s annual Summer Jam.

This year, Hot 97/WQHT and Summer Jam 2011 are petitioning the government to declare the stadium “District 97″ on Sunday, June 5. The station is seeking District 97 Brand Ambassabors to help gather 50,000 signatures and make history in the process.
