Want to Go to Space? Metro US Hopes So

Who doesn’t want to go to space?

That’s what Metro US is banking on – space’s universal appeal.

The newspaper company is sending one of its readers to the final frontier. Race to Space is a competition that begins today and through a collaboration with SXC – Space Expedition Curacao, the organization that will make the voyage possible.

To enter, readers have to submit an inspiring reason on why they deserve to go to space as well as take a quiz to test their knowledge of outer space.  Each Metro country will select one local nominee based on the number of Facebook “likes” and the quality of the submission and send their nominees to the global jury – comprised of members of both SXC and Metro International. In-depth interviews will be conducted before selecting the astronaut-to-be.

WLTW/Lite FM Offers Another Holiday Treat for Listeners

WLTW/Lite FM is bringing more of  the Christmas season to loyal listeners. Since 2004, WLTW has been a full-time Christmas music format from Thanksgiving until after December 25. The traditionally number one station in the Arbition ratings, Lite has found even more of a niche. The 2009 Holiday book was 11.6 rating or an audience of more than 7 million.

So it’s little surprise that the Clear Channel owned Adult Contemporary would have such a vested interest in Christmas.

The station is teaming up with H&R Block, JetBlue Getaways, Clean Air NY, and Big Apple Circus to provide free skating next weekend at Trump Wollman Rink in Central Park.

Complimentary admission and skating rentals will be handed out to the first 1,000 guests on Saturday, December 10, and again on Sunday, December 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
