How have you changed since 9/11?

Words failed.

On Sept. 11 a decade ago, countless headline writers grasped for a phrase equal to the violence – the violation – our nation had suffered. It was a fool’s errand, of course. Nothing could truly capture the enormity of the day – though Mediabistro’s 16-part series speaks eloquently to the determination and, yes, valiance of journalists’ efforts.

Ten years on, America still strains for the words.

But looking back over the decade, we can start to see paths emerge – storylines — the trajectory our lives have taken since then. We can begin to take stock of how we’ve changed, how we’ve healed. How we haven’t.

Yahoo! would like to connect those paths.

To mark the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, Yahoo! is collecting individuals’ brief stories (250 to 500 words) answering this question: How have you changed since 9/11?

For every eligible submission, Yahoo! will donate $10 – up to $10,000 – to the 9/11 Memorial Fund.

If you’re from New York or Washington, D.C. (currently or formerly), Yahoo! would particularly like to hear what your perspective is, as one of the people on the front lines.

Please share your story. Join the Yahoo! Contributor Network and follow the prompts to claim the assignment.
