Conrad Black’s Freedom Not So Appealing to Court

blackconrad0624.jpgCanadian, non-Canadian, hoping to be Canadian again publishing baron, and current felon, Conrad Black will remain in jail. A three-judge panel of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago has upheld last summer’s conviction of Black along with three of his fellow top executives at Hollinger International. Said the judge:

If you receive a check in the mail for $1 million that you have no reason to think you’re entitled to, you cannot just deposit it and when prosecuted for theft say you didn’t know you weren’t entitled to the money.
Just like mom always told us! Black now has the option to appeal to the entire appellate court, or take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court. What do you want to bet he attempts the latter?
