Courteney Cox in Dirt: Gale Weathers Redux?

2141_1.jpg

Barry Garron, in the Hollywood Reporter reviews Dirt, the new FX series with Courteney Cox as a tabloid editor not at all like Bonnie Fuller. Here’s the weird part:

So let’s give Cox credit for trying something a galaxy away from Monica of “Friends”

Why is this weird? Well, Cox’s Lucy Spiller (why not just call her Rita Skeeter and have done with it?) might be a light year or two away from Monica, but Cox has been a tabloid princess before–Gale Weathers in Scream. Who doesn’t know that?

FBLA enjoys a romp with tabloid now and again, but Dirt sounds more like a slough of dispair than a playground of naughtiness.
