Cross Walter Isaacson Off the List of Potential Newsweek Editors

isaacson08042010.jpgWell, that was quick.

Very soon after the New York Post‘s Keith Kelly mooted him as a potential replacement for outgoing editor Jon Meacham, former Time editor Walter Isaacson has eliminated himself from contention.

The Aspen Daily News reports that Isaacson has “ruled out the job’:

“I’ve already edited a news magazine,” he said.

Isaacson is a close friend of Sidney Harman, who on Monday inked a deal with Newsweek parent The Washington Post that certified him as the magazine’s new owner. The pair serve together on the board of the Aspen Institute, of which Isaacson is president and CEO.
