Nic Harcourt Returns to LA Radio Morning Airwaves

It was on December 1, 2008 that Jason Bentley officially took over for Nic Harcourt as KCRW music director and host of the 89.9 FM station’s signature weekday program Morning Becomes Eclectic.

Harcourt segued in the fall of 2011 to CSUN’s 88.5 FM, where he began hosting Saturday show Connections Made by Guitar Center this spring. The Valley-side Harcourt progression is now complete and once again, it is his pal at the LA Times, Randy Lewis, who has the details:

“There’s no doubt there’s a whole generation of millennials, or whatever you wish to call them, who barely listen to radio or didn’t grow up listening to it at all,” Harcourt, 55, said a few days before jumping October 19 into a program that will have him behind the microphone from 6 to 11 a.m. every weekday. “They have friends who are turning them onto new music — it’s a completely different situation. It might be a little better here in LA because kids have to be driven everywhere and their parents have the radio on.”

That last sentence is key. LA is indeed, still, a golden radio town because of how much people drive. Although we suspect it’s going to be more of a case of the parents insisting the dial be moved to 88.5 FM rather than the kids. Harcourt is taking over the KCSN weekday orning slot from from Jim Nelson.
