Daniel Miller to Join LA Times’ Company Town

Hollywood Reporter senior writer Daniel Miller is leaving the entertainment trade for the  pastures of the LA Times‘ showbiz blog Company Town. He starts his new gig next Monday. Looks like he’ll be on the studio beat.

Miller will report to entertainment news editor Claudia Eller.

Memo to staff from LA Times assistant managing editor John Corrigan after the jump:

To: The Staff
From: John Corrigan, Assistant Managing Editor

I’m very pleased to announce that Daniel Miller will be joining the Company Town team. He’ll play a key role in our coverage of the studios and help ensure we continue to provide our readers with unparalleled reporting on the business of Hollywood, from breaking news to engaging features and digital content.

Daniel is a solid addition to our seasoned crew of show biz reporters. He comes to us from the Hollywood Reporter, where he demonstrated an ability to tackle tough assignments – and a remarkable eye for stories that everyone wants to read. His work included a riveting profile of Ron Tutor, the construction magnate turned movie mogul, and a detailed examination of Scientology’s extensive real estate holdings. He also shared a byline on a story about the high-stakes poker games played by Hollywood’s A-list actors and studio executives.

Daniel’s many awards include three first-place prizes from the Los Angeles Press Club, and a national first place in feature writing from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.

A native of Los Angeles, Daniel graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in history. He worked on the Daily Bruin for four years, including stints as a reporter, columnist and editor. After graduation, he spent a year reporting for the Ventura County Star and four years as a reporter at the Los Angeles Business Journal.

When he’s not working on the big Hollywood story, Daniel plays guitar in a rock band. He’s also a car buff, and the proud owner of a vintage Datsun 240Z. He is married to Jessica Mackenzie, who works in the affordable housing field.

Daniel will start work Monday, Feb. 4, and will report to Entertainment News Editor Claudia Eller. Please join me in welcoming him.
