Don Imus Defends ‘Pacman’ Jones Comment As ‘Sarcastic’

imusssss.jpgEmbattled radio jock Don Imus, who made what some considered a racist remark on yesterday’s broadcast, offered an explanation of his comments, saying he was being “sarcastic” and actually defending “blacks.”

“What people should be outraged about is that they arrest blacks for no reason, and I mean there’s no reason to arrest this kid six times. They shoot blacks for no reason.”

Rev. Al Sharpton, who championed Imus’ firing last year, wasn’t buying the explanation. “I thought, given Imus’ background and his track record, [Monday's remarks were] disturbing,” the Rev said. “Clearly, he did not clarify what he meant. He left it out there.”
