Ex-ABC Consultant Lied About His Source, Too

The Alexis Debat fabricated interview debacle just keeps looking worse and worse. The ex-Nixon Institute senior fellow told the Washington Post‘s Howard Kurtz that his interview with Obama was really conducted by a Chicago Tribune reporter named Rob Sherman, with Debat’s name affixed to the interview instead.

That sounded a bit weird to us, so we called Sherman. He was patient with our poor cell phone connection and confirmed what we thought.

Rob Sherman is in actuality a drive time radio show host in Chicago. He claims that he had “no contact and never heard of Debat” and that the he “must have picked out my name.” Most importantly, he’s never written for the Tribune, though he did get a neat little clip in the paper once.

Besides, as Sherman put it, if he interviewed Obama, wouldn’t it have been done under his own name?

Yup, Debat messed up with this one.
