‘Eyewitness News’ Getting a Facelift, New Set and Studio

As we reported earlier this month, WABC/Channel 7 will start their evening news at 4 p.m. when Oprah Winfrey steps away on May 26.

Now we have more details on what is planned.

Eyewitness News is making the move to new digs, a WABC spokesman has confirmed to FishbowlNY.

This will allow expansion of the station’s current studio space into a spot on the corner of Columbus Ave. and 66th St., previously home to a Disney store.

It also brings in the element of people walking on the street behind them (usually saved for the morning network news programs).

The new studio is scheduled to be unveiled sometime this summer.

The 4 p.m. anchors have not been announced.
