Hudson News has one less magazine to cover up. Emap announced it will be shutting the doors to FHM‘s U.S. edition after its March issue. As FishbowlNY’s third or fourth favorite lad mag, we can’t say this announcement comes as a huge surprise — we’ve been hearing rumors for months that Emap had been quietly shopping the title around, with no takers. The move effectively ends FHM‘s uphill stateside battle against Dennis Publishing’s Maxim and Stuff — the lad category leaders that in recent months have begun targeting a more affluent readership.

The shuttering caps a rough year for magazines (see Teen People, Budget Living, ElleGirl).
