Marcus Vanderberg Joins FishbowlLA

To fill the gap created by the summer departure of Tina Dupuy for a managing editor position with political blog CrooksandLiars.com, FishbowlLA would like to officially welcome Marcus Vanderberg as its newest co-editor.

Vanderberg (pictured) currently contributes to video-centric African-American community news site TheGrio.com and freelances for BET.com. The LA native was also a member for the past year of Mediabistro’s Sports Newser blog, which was recently shuttered.

Born in LA and raised in Inglewood, Vanderberg was the sports and entertainment editor at the Daily Sundial at Cal State Northridge, before transferring to Hofstra University in New York to complete his studies. He has interned with ESPN, Sports Illustrated, The Denver Post and AOL, and also covered the fantasy baseball beat for MLB.com.

We asked the Hancock Park resident what his LA media highlight has been to date. “I had the opportunity to be a guest on the “Kevin & Bean” show, which I’ve been listening to for over 15 years now, to discuss a blog post I did for AOL to about my hate for the Tyra Banks show.” Ha ha. Count on this Dodgers, Trojans and New York Jets fan to be sharing many more loves and hates here.
