Food Magazine Gobbles Up Ad Pages

APRIL 2009_SAVEUR.jpgSure, the economy is in shambles, but people need to eat, right? That might explain the success of Saveur, Ellie-winning foodie magazine, which saw the advertising for its March issue jump 11 percent year-over-year. Furthermore, the magazine’s April issue is up more than 72 percent, which makes one wonder what exactly its sales people were doing this time last year.

Saveur has found success by staying true to its original mission and our advertisers recognize the value in this,” Merri Lee Kingsly said in a statement. “Our readers experience the world through their palates and enjoy bringing those experiences home to celebrate them with family and friends.”

On the year, the epicurean pub is reporting its ad pages are up almost 19 percent, which is like making wine from water in this climate.

Mmmm, dollars.
